LAGOS NOVEMBER 10TH (URHOBOTODAY)-The Delta State House of Assembly suspended the Chief Whip, Mrs. Pat Ajudua of the Oshimili North Constituency, and the former Deputy Majority Leader of the House, Mr. Johnson Erijo of the Isoko South 11th Constituency for three months following accusations of their plot to overthrow the House leadership.
The motion was initiated on Monday by the Leader of the House, Mr. Tim Owhefere, who cited a buildup of accumulated offences. The Minority Leader, Mr. Festus Okon of the Ika South Constituency, seconded the motion which was then unanimously adopted.
SaharaReporters learned that Mrs. Ajudua and Mr. Erijo were interested in top positions within the House Leadership. However, both of the lawmakers were denied these positions, which further aggravated their relationship with members of the House of Assembly.
The House leadership allegedly learned about the plot to overthrow them after returning from a N750 million jamboree training session in Atlanta, Georgia. The news of the plot galvanized the House leadership who, acting as one, moved quickly to suspend Mrs. Ajudua and Mr. Erijo from their positions in the State House of Assembly.
The news of Mr. Erijo’s suspension was greeted with jubilation by the residents of his Isoko South 11th Constituency. In a twist of fate Mr. Erijo had organized a victory thanksgiving service on Sunday at the Irri Isoko South Council, unaware he would be suspended on Tuesday.
Calls and messages to either of the suspended lawmakers were all rebuffed at the time of this report.
