LAGOS JUNE 9TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Hon. Yakubu Dogara from north east has defeated his arch rival Femi Gbajabiamila from Lagos state to become the speaker of the 8th House of Representatives.
Dogara polled 182 votes while Femi Gbajabiamila got 174 votes with 2 votes voided
Dogara’s election as Speaker is a big blow to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as both of its candidates lost out in both chambers of the national assembly.
Earlier, Senator Bukola Saraki of APC was elected unopposed as Senate President by PDP senators. APC senators and their senate president candidate Ahmed Lawan did not participate in the election.
