Leader of the Movement for the Advancement of Urhobo Nation (MAUN), Comrade Rex Anighoro has said it would be a grave mistake and a monumental disaster if the Urhobo Nation does not take frontline and strategic position in advancing and advocating for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.
Rex Anighoro stated that despite the perceived disenchantment by some Urhobos over the sliding of the Urhobo Nation to her worse political status in over three decades especially with the non inclusion of Urhobo’s indegenes in strategic positions in the President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, he opined that supporting Dr. Goodluck Jonathan was still the best political option for the Urhobo Nation.

According to him, “I believe that Dr. Goodluck Jonathan adminstration means well and cannot undermine the Urhobo Nation even when it seems to have ignored Urhobo in his administration. I share deeply in the feeling that the political status of the Urhobo Nation at this point in time is not savory and at its ebb, but I think strategic constructive engagement with President Goodluck Jonathan is a better and wiser political option.
Addressing newsmen at the Southern Sun Hotel,Ikoyi, Lagos where he led four other Urhobo Youth leaders to the International Dispute Resolution Institute where they are undergoing training on dispute resolution under the nomination of the Special Adviser to Mr.President on Niger Delta Affairs, Hon.Kingsley Kuku, the Urhobo youth leader stated that he has explicit confidence in the person and capacity of Kingsley Kuku to advise Mr. president on burning Niger Delta issues with particular reference reposition Urhobo Nation.
Anighoro pointed out that since his constructive engagement with the Special Adviser over the State of Affairs of the Urhobo Nation in his capacity as the convener of Urhobo Nation Youth Leaders Coalition, the Urhobo National leadership represented by the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) and the entire Urhobo youths should be rest assured that a turn for the better would be experienced as constructive dialogue is better rather than unnecessary confrontation and campaign of calumny being embark by a section of Urhobos who seem to be used by enemies of
Urhobo Nation.
Congratulating Jonathan on his two years anniversary as the President of Nigerian, Anighoro said as President of the Nigerian Federation, Jonathan has done better than all former Nigerian Presidents and as such deserve re-election.
He urged President Goodluck Jonathan to re-contest in 2015, just as he promised to be at the forefront of mobilising Urhobo Youths and by extension the Youths of the Nigerian Federation to support Jonathan in 2015.
Anighoro thanked Hon.Kingsley Kuku for the nomination and invitation of Urhobo Youths for training on Alternative Dispute Resolution, adding that this is a clear departure from the past and re-assurance that he mean to keep all his promise for the Urhobo youths after his coalition courtesy visit to his office.
Anighoro promised to use the knowledge of his training for the good of his people, while appealing for more training opportunities for Urhobo youths base on the award of scholarship
to post graduate levels.
“We are confident that redressing the issue of an imaginary, realistic and alarming Urhobo Nation neglect will be effectively addressed through your office” he concluded.
