Ughelli Descendant Union Honours Appointed Indigenes, Hails Majemite’s Contributions to Ughelli Kingdom

LAGOS SEPTEMBER 22ND (URHOBOTODAY)-Ughelli Descendant Union (UDU) an umbrella body of Ughelli indigenes on Saturday came together to honour sons and daughters of the community who were either elected or appointed into political offices in this present political dispensation.
The Union which use the opportunity to launch the maiden edition of its magazine “ UDU News” equally poured encomium on Chief (Barr) Fred Okiemute Majemite, Political Adviser to former Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan on his contribution towards the development and unity of Ughelli Kingdom.
Those honoured who were either elected or appointed into political offices from Ughelli axis are Chief Judge of Delta State, Justice Marshall Umukoro, Secretary to Delta State Government (SSG), Hon Festus Ovie Agas, Commissioner and Member of Delta State Executive Council, Mr. David Edevbie, Member Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Prince Eric Oharisi, Professor in Delta State University (DELSU) Abraka, Professor Lucky o Eboh and Special Assistant to Delta State Governor on Special Duties, Ighokena Sunday.
Others are Special Assistant to Delta State Governor, Godwin Adode, Special Assistant to Delta State Governor on Special Duties, Elvis Eguono Egone, Special Assistant to Delta State Governor on Youth and Community Development, Comrade Monday Owhesiri, Special Assistant to Delta Governor on Youth Development, Bateren Uteme and Special Assistant to Delta State Governor on Women Mobilisation, Ms Helen Ochuko Udi.
Addressing indigenes of Ughelli descendants during the ceremony held at the Palace of the Monarch of Ughelli Kingdom, HRM (Dr) Ojakovo Wilson Oharisi, President General of Ughelli Descedant Union, Chief Kenneth Iwhewhe gave God the glory hence the tense political period was over and the people are back to their normal political life.
While congratulating the winners in the past political competition, he equally enjoined the losers to congratulate their kinsmen and synergies with them to ensure a better polity devoir of rancor, adding that it is only a peaceful environment that will attract development from government and private entrepreneurs.
In the maiden edition of the UDU news bulletin, Chief (Barr) Fred Majemite, Political Adviser to former Delta State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan was described as a man of the people, a philanthropist and cheerful giver who has disbursed millions of Naira in scholarships to indigene students in secondary, under graduate and post-graduate schools in different higher institutions in Nigeria.
In the Hall of Fame column of the magazine, in an article titled, “ A Child of Destiny”, in ascribing Majemite’s drive to identify with the great Ughelli Kingdom, the magazine recalled that during the event of the launch of funds for Ughelli Kingdom Palace he did not only use his good office to get the then government of the day to participate handsomely in the project but he as well played his individual part.
On his concern for the present and upcoming generation, it was reported that Majemite believed strongly in mentors and mentoring which according to him is the easiest way for the youths to desire to become like others who are the symbols of societal and individual success. The first step towards this success is education which is the key to progressing in the right direction.
It is reported that it is Majemite’s urge that every child in Uughelli Kingdom must get educated hence education is the light and no one holding the light walks in darkness. His desire is to see UDU and other NGOs fully engage in the process of impacting heavily on the youths of the day so that in the future, there will be peace and prosperity in the Kingdom.
In his effort to unit sons and daughters of Ughelli Descendant Union, Majemite called for the enactment of the celebration of UDU Day which will see those at home and in Diaspora coming to together to forge a united front for the development of Uughelli kingdom.
It is as result of the aforementioned believes and effort of Majemite to develop and unite indigenes of Ughelli Kingdom that he was honoured with the Hall of Fame in the Ughelli Descendant Union (UDU) News Magazine.
