Senatorial Election: Delta Central Democrats Rally Support for Aguariavwodo
LAGOS SEPTEMBER 5TH (URHOBOTODAY)-In a bid to finding a worthy representative to fill the vacuum created over the death of Senator Pius Ewherido, who represented Delta Central Senatorial district, a pressure group in Delta State under the auspices of Delta Central Democrats (DCD) over the weekend, chose the former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Olorogun Emmanuel Aguariavwodo, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the right aspirant to give the Urhobos the needed representation.
Speaking to newsmen after a meeting attended by representatives of the eight local government areas making up Delta Central Senatorial district, in Effurun, headquarters of Uvwie Local Government Area, the Chairman of the group, Comrade Kingsley Eboh in company of his deputy and PRO, Hon. Johnson Okene and Comrade Julius Omokiniovo, stated that, an x-ray of the caliber of aspirants gunning for the senatorial seat of Delta Central, Hon. Aguariavwodo remains the most viable and worthy to give the Urhobos the needed representation at the Senate.
According to him, “The position is just for one trustworthy person and for this, we the members of DCD across Delta Central have adopted a man with good tentacles that can reach out to both the National Assembly and the Presidency; hence, we have selected a one time member of the House of Representative and former Managing Director of the NDDC, Olorogun Emmanuel Edisiri Aguariavwodo.
“We have also resolved that Olorogun Aguariavwodo is an articulate gentleman who believes in the Urhobo cause, that Olorogun Aguariavwodo has the connection to take the Urhobos to where it ought to be, that he is a man of peace who would have nothing to do with the evil or speak ill of his compatriot because of his personal aggrandizement, rather, would honour God with his position”.
The group also urged all Urhobos to throw their weight behind Aguariavwodo and appealed to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to field Aguariavwodo for the Delta Central by-election if it wants to win the election.
