Lagos may 12th (urhobotoday)-Residents of The district of St Bright’s Secondary School, Institute
of Continued Education and Ojugbana Drive area of Asaba, Delta State capital have been sleeping with one eye close because of the activities of under world.

Report reaching Urhobotoday revealed that within a short period, this part of Asaba had witnessed no fewer than ten armed robbery life threatening incidents, revealing that a house belonging to a widow was robbed and set ablaze by the intruders.
Furthermore, Information made available to Urhobotoday revealed that about two weeks before this dastardly incident, the residence of a former member of the Delta State House of Assembly in the neighbourhood was robbed, adding that the next week, the home of a retired Assistant Commissioner of Police was also invaded.
“It is highly doubtful that these incidents were not duly reported to the
authorities given the status of the persons affected but it is obvious
that appropriate actions are yet to be taken,” Our source revealed.

To moderate the activities of the hoodlums, residents of the community are appealing to Delta state Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa in his capacity
as the Chief Security Officer of the State to assist the police
authorities in erecting a permanent police post in the highly
populated area as this will restore safety and enhance response time.

  1. Enough is enough. My deep sympathies to the widow, may God be her comforter. I know the area so described in Asaba because I was once a teacher at the said secondary school mentioned but I want to firmly state that what fuels such robbery activities is because there is a major drug booming center at a place called Ochele quarters which is within the locality. These guys on drugs can do anything to get money to take care of their addiction. Although NDLEA officers have made several arrests in that place but the culprits have a way of paying for their release. In so many instances these cocaine and crack consumers harass people even during the day. All they do is to raise their shirts a little above their waist and show the victim a shot gun. Even any passersby, will find it difficult to understand that an armed robbery incident is going on rather it will so appear as if the victim is just paying for a product that he has just finished negotiating for. Infact, even whilst the telephone set is being taken, any person nearby may think the robber is just admiring the phone because the robber will be so calm and may even be pretending to smile. It has happened to a cousin of mine by Hilton Hotel in the same area that is why I understand how these drug addicts operate. At night, what they do is to rob residents around their drug joint. It is very possible that Delta Governor. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa would know about this because it is an area where his brother lived for many years. The primary suggestion herein is that the drug business in the district should be dismantled and those that run such joints arrested. When this happens, it will be difficult to see young men who rob innocent persons because they want to sustain their dirty habits, The Delta DSS Chief and Police commissioner can help the NDLEA do the cleansing. Thanks to ZION newspaper for promptly providing this valuable report. I suggest Governor Okowa visits the widow and do what is needful
