‘Ogogoro’ Killer Gin, Spread to Delta, Kills Two in Kwale

LAGOS JUNE 17TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Local gin known as ‘Ogogoro’ has started spreading to other states in Nigeria after killing no fewer than 38 in Rivers states.
Report has it that despite government’s ban on the sale and consumption of locally distilled gin (ogogoro), it seems the demand for the product is still strong across the country and this has resulted in the dead of people in Okwale axis of Delta state.

The two people in Okolore, Kwale axis of Delta State were reported to have lost their lives after consuming the product.
It was gathered that the two persons died at the weekend by a bush path to the farmlands in the area after they both were said to have taken “two shots” of the drink allegedly prepared with herbs. The deceased, (names withheld) middle-aged, were known drinkers in the community.
Family sources said the duo were related, and have never been married.
Confirming the reports, acting police spokesman in the state, ASP Uwuigbe Nosakhare, said the police were investigating the circumstances surroundings the deaths.
