Obuh: Abuja Can’t Decide for Deltans-Ayiri: You Can’t Impose him on Us, Lawyer Tells Ayiri

Tony Obuh

LAGOS OCTOBER 2ND (URHOBOTODAY)-Itsekiri Leader and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) bigwig in Delta State, Chief Emami Ayiri has insisted on the imposition of Mr. Tony Obuh as governor of Delta State in 2015 stressing that Abuja cannot tell the people of Delta State what to do.
But a Delta State human activist and legal luminary, Barr. Maxwell Ogegegbe disagreed with Ayiri saying it is improper for an individual to impose a governor on the people of Delta State.
Ayiri who was alleged to have made the statement in an sms circulated widely in Delta State on which a copy was forwarded to Urhobotoday pointed out in the sms thus, “Deltans u know continuity pays. Obuh is chosen by our system. Abuja cannot tell us what to do. Join me to produce Obuh 4 Governor 2015- Chief Ayiri Emami”.
While the sms did not state categorically who it was referring to as ‘Abuja’ but several people who received the sms interpreted it to be the ‘Presidency’.
Reacting to the sms, Delta state human right activist and legal luminary, Barr Maxwell Ogedegbe interpreted the sms to mean that Obuh is only to be made a governor not on the grounds of his personal track records or recorded achievements but for the purpose of continuity on the achievements of Dr. Emmanuel Uduagha, just as he queried if the score card of Dr. Emmanuel Uduagha, is in the best interest of the state to glamour for the sustenance of same as intended by the aspiration of Obuh?
‘The answer is not far to fetch as the state as put by Late Fela Kuti is well captured thus: na back the state take dey walk Uduaghan don put everybody for reverse” please second base jare.
He lamented that the system that has chosen Obuh does not care whether Deltans accept their choice candidate as their say is inconsequential.
Hear him, “Obuh is to be produced by Chief Ayiri Emami. I have watched with alarm and dismay the arrogance of the clique who have held themselves out as the sponsors of Obuh and I am saddened by the fact the state governor has decided to subject the fate of Deltans to these persons who at best can be described as Judas Iscariot of modern day.
“While stomach infrastructure has made many to join the band wagon in view of their personal short term gains, I align myself with our father Chief Dr. E. k Clark thus “rascals cannot produce for us a governor”. While I do not want to bring the person of Chief Ayiri to public odium, Deltans know the caliber of those who can boastfully say I want to produce a governor, as the statement is to say the least callous.
“While one may again be tempted to think in error that great financial fortune is required to produce a governor, I must state without equivocations that a sterling pedigree is the ultimate as a gold bed is of no value to a sick man.”
Be that as it may, Ogedegbe called on Deltans to join t Chief Edwin Clark to produce the governor as Abuja has refused to accept the intended production of Delta State governor in 2015 through a process like that of employing a personal cook or driver.
“So please, Deltans will choose a governor but not to join just one individual who feels the richest is the oldest in a community to produce a governor, as to do so would be in the words of Late Fela Kuti a demonstration of craziness,” Ogedegbe opined.
