Moses Taiga Declares Interest for UPU President -General, Highlights Four Major Projects for Urhobos (PHOTOS)

LAGOS NOVEMBER 1ST (URHOBOTODAY)-Barely two months to the expiration of the present Executive of Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) worldwide, an Urhobo business magnet and Chairman of EXCON Group of Companies, Olorogun Moses Taiga has signified his interest to occupy the exalted seat of the Presidential- General of the great social –cultural organization come 2017.

Speaking in a meeting organized by Lagos Urhobo Social Club, held at Ikeja, Lagos , Taiga who said his administration would be base on the execution of important projects, promised that if elected his priority is to execute four major important projects across the community, adding that from time to time he will make various Urhobo leaders to get together and identify which project they should work on in their domains.

Olorogun Taiga who was accompanied in the visitation by prominent Urhobo leaders in person of Chief Godwin Ogbetuo, Coordinator of Urhobo Historical Society, Professor Peter Ekeh and an Urhobo Lagos Businessman, Chief J.M. Barovbe among other Urhobo leaders vowed to immediately execute four important projects for the development of Urhobo nation should he become President General of UPU Worldwide.

According to him, “For a start, I want to reorganize and make sure Uvwiamuge Cultural Centre, Agbarho become the defactor Headquarters of Urhobo land. For that we need to reorganize and re- innovate that place.
Two, Urhobo college that was built with sweat and blood of our ancestors need to be put together in a proper way.
“Thirdly we need to set up a Micro Finance Bank for the ladies to be able to borrow money to do the things they want to do. From the Micro-Finance bank they can take loan to do their business of which they are expected to pay later without interest.

“Fourthly, we need to set up Mukoro Mowoe University as a legacy for such a prominent man. These are our initial projects and we are willing to identify and discuss other projects as time goes by.”
Responding to question on how he can combine the duty of successful businessman and the tasking duties of being UPU President –General , he argued that being a successful businessman do not have anything to do with performing his duties as UPU President-General .

“At that age and level, my business grow for themselves. They do not need me to run them. When you get to some level in life, you do not need to work anymore. That is my people need me. They need someone who is established and able to organize and reorganize the Urhobo nation,” he stated.
He observed that Urhobo being the fifth largest tribe in Nigeria had not been position in the correct perspective, stressing that he will ensure Urhobo is put I his right place.
