LAGOS APRIL 13TH (URHOBOTODAY)- Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission ( DESOPADEC} has mapped out strategies to train and empower youths of oil producing area in Delta on the skill of agriculture and livestock farming as inculcated in the S.M.A.R.T. programme of Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.
DESOPADEC Managing Director, Olorogun Williams Makinde who made the disclosure during an inspection tour to access the level of completion of some of the ongoing projects of the commission and to also inspect some training facilities that will serve as center to train the youths of the oil producing Areas of the state pointed out that the Commission has engaged in a robust discussion with the management of Austkerry Livestock Farms to train youths to be self reliant and sufficient thereby boosting the production of food in Delta state.
He affirmed that the commission is satisfied with the facilities on ground at Austkerry Farms, adding that the agency would not hesitate to work in partnership with the firm for proper training of youths in farming and livestock production.
During the inspection tour Makinde and his management team inspected DESOPADEC skill acquisition center in Ogbe-Ijoh town in Warri South West local government area and Austkerry Mega Farms located at Omadeno in Warri South local govt area of Delta state.
Makinde was accompanied by the Executive Director of Planning , Research and Statistics, Engr. Victor Wood , Executive Director of Projects,Pastor Gbasi Philip, Executive Director of Social Services , Hon Christopher Ochor Ochor, various HODs of the Commission.
