Delta: Unknown Gunmen Kill UNN Graduate Awaiting NYSC in Ughelli
LAGOS APRIL 20TH (URHOBOTODAY)-A 32 year old University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) Mechanical Engineering graduate awaiting his posting for youth service, Mr. Eugine Ujayikre Ighoesuvwo was on Tuesday night allegedly murdered in cold blood by unknown persons in his one room apartment at No. 20B Otobo Street, Ughelli Delta State.
A source told our reporter that hoodlums, numbering well over 10 surrounded the compound of the graduate between 12 and 1.00am, smashed the door leading to his one-room apartment while armed with gun, “woke him up from bed and as he was begging them not to terminate his life they ordered him to lie down and at a close range blew his head open with a gun.
When our reporter visited the scene of the crime in his one room apartment, late Eugine was seen lying in a pool of his own blood stone deed and some exploded empty cartridges were found on the floor beside his corpse.
Other items found were hammer, a very sharp screw driver also believed to have been used on him before the gun shot.
Speaking to our correspondent, late Eugine’s sister, Elohor described her late brother as an easy going man and a guitarist who is married to his musical equipment. The entire people living in the compound have all deserted the area for the fear of police arrests.
Meanwhile, as at press time, all efforts to speak with the Divisional Police Officer in charge of UGHELLI Police Division “A”, Mr. Galadima (CSP) proved abortive as he was said to be out on official patrol visits but sources close to his office confirmed the incident adding that the police visited the scene of crime, recovered some exhibits and thereafter deposited the corpse in Government Hospital mortuary for autopsy, emphasizing that investigation is already on with a view to bringing the perpetrators of the crime.
