As political campaigns gain momentum, Delta State Labour Party Governorship candidate, Chief Great Ogboru seems to be gaining more grounds in Delta State political landscape as group under the aegis of the People United Mandate for Chief Great Ogboru declared their support for him.
In a press statement signed by Efe Uduefe Okifo and Andy Ugbovoro, the President and Secretary of the of the organisation respectively, the group described Ogboru as the best candidate for the job because he is the most popular, very experienced, with humility and above all a pan Deltan who is well read.
According to the group, who said the most popular candidate should be giving the opportunity to rule “ We at the Delta Guber 2015: The people United Mandate for Chief Great Ogboru believe he is the best candidate for the job. He is the most popular, experienced, with humility and above all a pan Deltan. Why? He is well read.”
The forum which felt compel to air its own views on the political arena said, “Anyone who take his/her Father, Mother, Brothers or Sisters to mortgage or who betray his/her brothers and sisters or the one who take his parents(including his/her brothers and sisters) to the market place or any public place to be flogged, humiliated or disgraced is an imbecile. “Again, also, anyone who collects money for his parents to be sold into slavery is equally a slave. Do not enslave Urhobo simply because you want to own chain of properties, cars, mansions and fat bank accounts and living like as if there is no tomorrow Urhobo should not be mortgaged by either politicians, traditional rulers or contractors.
“Do you like a situation where by Urhobo is turned to slaves or liken to a man or people who is taken captive or turned to slave with his wife or wives taken and the children are in turn turned into errand boys and girls?
“Or a situation whereby the Urhobos or the Itshekiri, Isoko or the Ijaw will be treated like a conquered people? This cannot work. Defend your heritage and do not be used against your brothers and sisters for the love of money. Everyone will one day die without being buried with all the money(either domiciled in pounds sterling, Dollar, or in Naira all loaded and packed in the bunker), properties, mansions and cars. You came into this world naked and in nakedness shall one return to the mother earth in a single grave but not two.”
The group advised that they should allow the most popular and experienced candidate in the race and the people’s choice win, arguing that anyone who is paid to fight UPU is a disgrace to the entire Urhobo nation and the entire people and the entire nation
“Democracy after all is a game of number but not of manipulation and Delta own cannot be an exception. The truth has to be said to educate our people on social cultural and social political issues,” the statement affirmed.
