LAGOS OCTOBER 26TH (URHOBOTODAY)- The Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Ovwigho Igbuya and House of Representative Minority Leader, Hon Leo Ogor have commended the verdict of Delta State Governor Election Tribunal which upheld the governorship election of Dr Ifeanyi Okowa as governor of Delta State.
Igbuya who on Monday congratulated Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for his victory at the Tribunal equally praised the judiciary for remaining the protector of the oppressed.

In a statement issued in Asaba by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Henry Ebireri, the speaker described the April 11 governorship election as the fairest and freest in the history of the state.
“Your victory at the Tribunal shows that the people of Delta State clearly authorized your candidature. “It also shows that the judiciary is the last hope of the common man’’ he said.
He commended Okowa for running a transparent and accountable government and also placing the state on the world map for good, growth and development.
Igbuya who also praised the governor for the pragmatic steps taken to address the problems in the various sectors, the development of democratic culture and stable polity, the creation of jobs for the people and the elevation of politics beyond the mundane levels of wrangling, greed and selfishness, said the governor in the last six months focused on administering the State, with the fear of God and for the good of the people.
““Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa is a caring governor. He believes in merit and places top priority on the welfare of the people. He has relentlessly pursued a vigorous policy for provision of social facilities and infrastructure” he said.
Emphasizing that God threw up Governor Okowa to develop the state, the speaker urged the governor to keep up the good works.
He enjoined Chief Great Ogboru and Olorogun O’tega Emerhor to support Governor Okowa in transforming the state.
“There is no victor, no vanquished” he said
The speaker, who further thanked the people for the confidence reposed on Okowa, said the governor would continue to deliver dividends of democracy to them.
“With your continued support, understanding and cooperation, Okowa will firmly expand on the gains recorded so far” the statement said.
In another development Minority Leader, House of Representatives and Member Representing Isoko Federal Constituency, Hon Leo Ogor, has congratulated the Executive Governor of Delta State Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, and the People’s Democratic Party, PDP on the victory of the Governor and the party at the ElectionsPetitions Tribunal.
The Federal lawmaker says he feels fulfilled and elated over the judgment of the Delta State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Asaba in which the duly elected governor of Delta state emerged victorious.
Ogor said although he was undaunted and not in doubt about the victory of the party in all matters before the Tribunal, but the fact that in spite of the visible pressure and efforts by the losers, the tribunal Justices, members of the Tribunal remained unswayed and demonstrated their unbiased disposition in the matter by considering its merit.
He further describes the judgment and the success of the gallant party elected governor as well deserved and a further demonstration of the uprightness of the judiciary, commending members of the Tribunal for a job well done.
The PDP leader of the house of representatives, while congratulating the Governor for the victory and not being perturbed or distracted from carrying out his executive duties by the actions of his challengers during the hearing process, charges him to remain focused and committed as dependable party faithful for the state as well as being accessible to all Deltans.
While also reiterating his admonition to the opposition (the APC) and the labour Party LP to desist from engaging or taking undemocratic actions and making inflammatory comments capable of plunging the State into crisis, the federal lawmaker calls on the PDP teeming supporters and people of the State to remain steadfast, assuring them of better deal under the
administration of Sen Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa which he said has come to stay.
