LAGOS MAY 7TH (URHOBOTODAY)-The president of the Urhobo Progress Union Youth Wing world wide also known as Ighele Re Urhobo, Comrade Ovie Anthony Igho has been adopted by unknown gun men at gun point at about 8.30pm yesterday 6th, May 2016.
According to a report by the PRO of the body, Comrade Godstime Ohwo, the president was returning to his country home in Abraka after an emergency meeting at the Urhobo House in Okere, Warri, Delta State when the driver mistakenly ran into the net of the robbers at the sharp bend in between Eku and Oria Abraka.
He said the driver could not spot the illegal blockages on time, hence was not swift enough to manipulate it as the boys quickly rounded the vehicle up at gun point, robed four of them of all their belongings before taking the President away into the bush through a bush part besides Prof Igun’s house in between Eku and Oria Abraka.
He said as at the time of this report, the UPU President General, Chief Joe Omene, Chief Evens Iwurie, and Senator Ovie Omo Agege have been contacted and they responded promptly by calling on security operatives including the SARS, Army ,local Vigilantee and more who are currently carrying out a full blown rescue operation in this regard.
“We at the Urhobo Youth Empowerment and database center do seize this medium to call on all Urhobo youth leaders and stakeholders to come out and show strength by contributing their quota to ensuring this evil called kidnapping is stop in Urhobo land as it is not putting our prostrate father’s land on the side of honour in history. All hands must be on deck to ensure that Ovie Igho is released unhurt and his adopters brought to book. We must all stand up tall, condemn and vehemently reject this evil by bracing up our searchlights and security intelligence,” he said.
It would recalled that within the past three weeks, over ten cases of kidnapping have been recorded within Ughelli area and Abraka- Warri express way. No doubt, the worms that eat the cola nut are inside the cola nut, the perpetrators dwell amongst us. We must start to question and interrogate people’s prosperity. We must stop minding our individual businesses, we must investigate those who say they work in offshore especially when they are seeking partnership, business or marital arrangements with us, we must discourage undue and reckless display of affluence by young people in our society, corrupt police, military men and women aiding and abetting criminality must be fished out and dismissed accordingly, parents must learn how to train a child because it is better to train a child than to repair an adult, we must consciously or unconsciously revert to the value of diligence, patience and honesty as it was in the days of old, and most importantly, our leaders must leader exemplarily by doing the needful.
