Another Islam Sect ‘KALO KATO’Emerges in Niger
LAGOS AUGUST 15TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Barely four years after the N?ger State Government d?slodged an Islam?c sect Darrusalam from Bokan? ?n the state, another Islam?c sect called ‘Kalo Kato’ are now ?n Uregi-Kongoma and Kwana- Mariga of Rafi local government area of the state.
LEADERSHIP gathered that the members of the sect were mostly fore?gners from N?ger Republ?c but were ?nv?ted by an Islam?c scholar ?n Pandogae? ?n Rhe local government area.
It was gathered that the teachings of the sect ?s different from the conventional and establ?shed Islamic teach?ngs based on the Quran and Had?th.
The members who sources sa?d, came to the area few days before the Ramadan do not bel?eve ?n the Had?th but only what ?s conta?ned ?n the holy Quran. In order not cause apprehension among the people, the secretary of Kalgara Em?rate counc?l Abdullahi Bala Kagara, told LEADERSHIP that last week the em?rate ?nv?ted the leaders of the sect to a meet?ng w?th the secur?ty agencies.
He sa?d the em?rate had sent learned Islam?c scholars and leaders to clarify issues with the sect members on their mode of preach?ng ?n order not to cause any breach of secur?ty.
Accord?ng to h?m, “We are monitoring them and we have also brought this to the notice of all the security agencies. We have identified the leader of the sect as Abdulkadir Suwaba who has been residing in Pandogeri area of the emirate for years”.
