Aguariawvodo’s Victory in PDP Primaries is Victory for Urhobos-Ex-Jonathan Media Aide
LAGOS SEPTEMBER 26TH (URHOBOTODAY) – Olorogun Ima Niboro, the erstwhile Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Goodluck Jonathan has described the victory of Chief Emmanuel Agwariawvodo in the Delta Central Senatorial Zone Primaries of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a “victory for all Urhobos, and victory for democracy.”
“Agwariawvodo is a tried and tested patriot, a man of the people. By his victory, destiny has thrust upon him the urgent task of leading Delta Central back into the mainstream of National politics,” Niboro said in a brief statement emailed to THEWILL.
“I commend all who fought gallantly and lost, and urge them to close ranks at this critical time, and put paid to the politics of opposition and retrogression that has been our unfortunate lot in the last few years.
“With Agwariawvodo, it is a new dawn for Delta Central: a promise of infinite possibilities!” the former spokesman to the president added.
Agwariavwodo emerged following the withdrawal of three top contenders for the ticket – a former Secretary to the Delta State Government, Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege; the political advisor to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, Chief Ighoyota Amori; as well as three-time member representing Ethiope Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. John Halims Oghenechuko Agoda, from the race.
THEWILL had previously reported exclusively that President Goodluck Jonathan had pressured state governor Emmanuel Uduaghan and the leadership of the party in the state to facilitate the emergence of Agwariavwodo, a former MD/CEO of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and very close associate of the President.
In the primary proper conducted on Tuesday at the Sapele Township Stadium, Agwariavwodo defeated three other aspirants who refused to step down namely; Chief Andrew Oru, Mr. Solomon Edojah and Mr. Solomon Udele, a former ADC and Chief Security officer (CSO) to former Delta State Governor and PDP chieftain, Chief James Ibori.
