LAGOS JANUARY 7TH (URHOBOTODAY)-As the world celebrate New Year coupled with the usual habit of Nigerian clerics forecasting doom for the country, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Chief Sunny Onuesoke has affirmed that those professing doom for the country in 2016 will fail.
Onuesoke who made the declaration in his country home at Agbarha-Otor, Ughelli North LGA, Delta State at the weekend when he hosted some key members of PDP at his ward to a dinner, wondered how long would Nigerian continue to listen to doom prophecy?

He said while other countries are planning on how to make it in 2016, Nigerian clerics were busy prophesying doom every year end, adding that Nigeria is under hostage by liars and con men who parade themselves as politicians and prophets.
He warned that the road to greatness and development in Nigeria is definitely not in sight not until the clerics he described as ‘religious bigots and old generation and out of date political helms men’ give way.
Onuesoke pointed out that if this was happening in the United States, the FBI, the CIA, NSA and the secret service would have invited these false prophets for information on the source of their prophecies and leads on possible suspects.
“What is wrong to use our tongue and mouth to prophesy good things about Nigeria? It is said that the voice of man is the voice of God. When you wish yourself good it will be good with you. But when you wish yourself bad, good things will avoid you.
“ I want a situation where our prophets will say good and encourage words about the country and not prophesy that will create fear in the mind of the people. It is the spiritual duty of prophet to pray and avert any upcoming bad occurrence, instead of seeking public recognition with such prophesy,” he advised.
Wondering if it is crime for Nigerians to prepare their minds for good things in 2016, Onuesoke declared that despite all odds, 2016 will become the year that Nigeria will discover alternative sources of revenue apart from oil.
He said as a nation, Nigeria had risen beyond the wishes of all these prophets of doom, adding that what is more important is to established a firm root of democracy in this country.
