2015: Buhari is no Match to Jonathan-Onuesoke

Chief Sunny Onuesoke

LAGOS DECEMBER 18TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Delta State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain, Chief Sunny Onuesoke has reiterated that APC Presidential candidate in 2015 general election, General Mohammadu Buhari is not a challenge to President Goodluck Jonathan re-election bid in 2015.
Reacting to Buhari’s election as APC Presidential candidate in a statement made available to our correspondent, Onuesoke affirmed that Nigeria is too volatile and complex to be governed by a person of Buhari’s caliber, alleging that it is public knowledge that Buhari is an unrepentant religious bigot and avowed ethnic jingoist who cannot be compared to Jonathan who embrace all the religion and ethnicity.
Onuesoke who wondered what meaningful contributions and impact can a 73-year-old retired soldier in person of Buhari will bring to 21st century governance, disclosed that Buhari lacks the requisite intellectual capacity and required physical strength to optimally confront the ultra-complex and multi-dimensional problems bedeviling Nigeria.
“I think it would have been highly honorable if Buhari had stood by his words by not contesting presidential election again,” Onuesoke, Delta State PDP Governorship aspirant in 2007 general election advised.
He maintained that the choice between President Goodluck Jonathan and the opposition’s candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 election is about records, adding that the opposition record is no match President Jonathan’s record.
Onuesoke pointed out that the days of selling a candidate based on his ethnicity and region affiliation had gone, just as he explained that the 2015 Presidential election is about issues, records and ideas which keep Jonathan far above Buhari.
“President Jonathan’s has bequeathed a good Human Right Record to Nigeria. No political Prisoners exist in Nigeria. No one is imprisoned for their views under President Jonathan. What is the opposition’s Human Right record?” Onuesoke queried.
Describing opposition claim of coming to fight corruption as false, Onuesoke disclosed that under President Jonathan, Nigeria progressed 8 points upward in the latest Corruption Perception Index released by Transparency International two weeks ago proving that the President is tackling corruption headlong.
“Gone are the show trials that glorify style over substance with media prosecutions that do not lead to convictions. Under Jonathan, Nigeria has had more corruption convictions than any other time and Transparency International noticed it,” He recalled.
Onuesoke said Jonathan’s achievement in infrastructural development, education, health, aviation, economical and human development among others has no comparism.
