2015: Abdullahi Threats of War’ll not Stop Jonathan-Onuesoke

LAGOS JANURAY 5TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Former Delta State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship Aspirant in 2007 general election and currently Special Project Director in the office of Delta State Governor, Chief Sunny Onuesoke has affirmed that Professor Ango Abdullahi and his Northern cohorts threat of war should President Goodluck Jonathan contest in 2015 will not stop the President from not contesting.
A Northern elder statesman, Professor Ango Abdullahi has join the call by Northern leaders and Politicians that President Goodluck Jonathan must not contest the 2015 Presidential election. According to Abdullahi, President Jonathan’s decision to contest the 2015 Presidential is a plan to plunge Nigeria into a civil war. Early this week, the Adamawa state Governor, Admiral Murtala Nyako warned that, “we must stop President Goodluck Jonathan’s attempt to go for second term, as that will lead to civil war”.
Reacting to the statement in a press statement made available to Urhobotoday, Onuesoke said rather than threat of war deterring the President from contesting in 2015, it would encourage him to test his popularity before Nigeria voters.
“Even if Goodluck Jonthan do want to run before, for the fact the Northerners are making it to look as if they are the owner of this country by their utterances, the President must run whether he like it or not. We the Southerners are waiting for the war drum the Northerners are beating
“They are surprised by Jonathan’s achievements and knew that majority of Nigerians would want Goodluck to remain till 2019 that is why the are beating the drum of war to distabilise the election. I have always told them to wait for their turn because after South- South, South East, it will be the turn of Middle-Belts before it will get to the North,” Onuesokes disclosed.
Maintaining that Jonathan has the constitutional right to contest and cannot be stopped by any threat of war or ethnic gang up, the PDP Stalwart argued that people like Ango Abdullahi who ought to be one vanguard of the unity of our country rather chose to tear the country apart apart because the country is lead by a person from the minority.
“If Mr. President is unpopular let the electorates decide. He cannot be cowed. I don’t fathom any reason to beat the drum of war because of a presidential election. Jonathan has the right and eligibility to contest, just at every other proposed aspirant has too. How and why his seeking a second term will lead to civil war? Let the Prof tell us the purpose of his civil war and who the combatants will be? We are wiser now. Anybody who calls for civil war as a result of Jonathan contesting will be the first to be consumed.
“Is this man a professor of war? Why is he always professing, propagating and prophesying war? Did he have any son in the Army? Let him lead the war we all will follow. Hope when the war starts he will not be the first to run away with his family only to return later to shamefully enjoy the spoils of warlike what we experience during the Nigerian/Biafran civil war,” he recalled.
