LAGOS MARCH 23RD (URHOBOTODAY)-The recent peaceful settlement of the crisis rocking Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) United Kingdom Chapter and the recognition of Chief Emmanuel Okpako Ganiga led Executive by the President-General of UPU (World-wide) seems not to be over as the former President of UPU-UK, Chief Paul Akpofure has insisted that the EXCO should avail members, President of Kingdoms , Urhobo Traditional Chiefs Council and other Associations Official in the United Kingdom Communiqué signed by the President General Olorogun Moses Taiga for ease of reference and record.
In a statement sent to Urhobotoday.com via email, Akpofure argued that while he is not in doubt as regard the recognition of Ganiga Executive by Olorogun Moses Taiga as reported in the media with photos, he pointed out that it is still appropriate as practiced generally to avail members in UK a communiqué signed by the President-General Olorogun Moses Taiga.
“Please it is in my candid opinion that reliance or acceptance of media reports as credible only source of communication to members is inappropriate, particularly taking into account long standing controversies that has been prevailing in UPU-UK chapter,” Akpofure argued in the email in which he equally copied prominent Urhobo leaders both in United Kingdom and Nigeria.
He maintained that Ganiga led Executive should deem it appropriate to inform its members and entire Urhobo Community in the United Kingdom officially and not posting third parties media reports.
“I sincerely hope your Secretariat including Publicity Secretary will address this issue raised soonest,” he said, adding that the EXCO should equally respond to his past two and half years request for Union Financial Audit Reports that unfortunately remain unattended.
“Let me unequivocally affirm to your Executive and all concern that the accreditation of your Executive as constitutional administration must not be construed as victory for your election saga, but rather a historic affirmation of absolute adherence by all to UPU Constitution. “Following my discussion with son of UPU hqtrs , I understand that a mandate was indeed issued as conditions–That a future fresh Election be conducted when due with barring of some from participating in such.
“Please I urge your Executive to ensure strict compliance in the interest of unifying a sadly fragmented Urhobo Community with respect to UPU Affairs.
“Once again congratulations to all for your meeting with UPU Hqtrs meeting of 8/3/2018 and collectively we look forward to an enhanced unity and peace in our Union,” he stated.
