Lagos Explosion Leaves One Dead, Cripples Policeman
Police have confirmed that one person, Oladele Pius, was this morning kill after an explosion occurred under the bridge, linking Festac Town to Amuwo Odofin Housing Estate.
The Area Commander of Area E Festac Command of the Lagos State Police Command, Dan Okoro, who confirmed the incident, said the dead was a leader of the sand dredgers under the bridge. Okoro added that one person was injured in the blast.
Pius was survived by his two wives and five children. Sources say that the legs of a policeman who visited the deceased were shattered as a result of the impact of the explosion.
The cause is still unknown but the police bomb squad was sighted at the scene.
In a telephone chat with Dailypost, the Head of Public Relations, National Emergency Management Agency, Yushau Shuaib said officials of agency said were already on ground.
Shuaib played down speculations that the blast may have been an external attack. “People should please not speculate since investigations are on,” he said
