Contrary to recent media reports, National Vice Chairman, South-South, of People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Steve Oru, has said he was not rushed to hospital by Chief Anthony Anenih and Alhaji Bamanga Tukur after he was attacked by hoodlums last weekend.
Oru, in astatementbyhisSpecialAssistant ,Mr.Monday Okotie, said he was rushed to hospital by a good samaritan, adding that he was alive and recuperating.

He said the attack on him by armed bandits was neither a kidnap nor an assassination attempt but a mere accident, insisting that he ran into the hoodlums between Orhokpokpor-Agbarho and Uwiamughe-Agbarho on the East-West Road on his way from Warri.
He thanked God for “breaking the snares of fowlers and like a bird, I escaped. I will be back on my feet again. I wish to express my profound gratitude to my governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan for his personal intervention, Prof. Amos Utuama, deputy governor of Delta State and the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Mr. Ovuozorie Macaulay for their visit to the hospital.
“I also wish to thank Chief Anenih, Alhaji Tukur, the samaritan that rushed me to the hospital, the medical team that battled to save my life and a host of other personalities within and outside the country who, through their visits, calls and prayers have encouraged and strengthened us in our trying moment. We appreciate your show of love,” he said.
