LAGOS OCTOBER 24TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Report reaching Urhobotoday has revealed that Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa has fired the Executive Director of Finance and Administration (EDFA) of the Delta State Oil Producing Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Askia Ogieh and installed Executive Director of Social Services, Ochor Ochor as replacement.
An anonymous source who was privy to the plot hinted that Okowa installed Ochor, his kinsman as a stooge to monitor the finances of the Commission to completely shot out the Managing Director (MD) of the Commission, Olorogun Williams Makinde, from financial matters.
Our source revealed that beside accusing Askia of financial recklessness, Okowa is angered by Askia blazing the road with unwanted siren even as the governor out of jealousy got annoyed on discovering that staff of the Board nicknamed Askia as ‘DESOPADEC Governor’, a name he (Okowa) was not comfortable with.
Askia was also accused of collecting returns from contractors before signing their payment papers just as Okowa was alleged to have cooked up allegations against Askia for using N150 million allegedly belonging to the commission to weed grasses.
A reliable source in DESOPDEC media office however denied the report saying there was a little problem between Okowa and Askia which had already been resolved.
“The story of the sack of DESOPEC Commissioner of Finance is false. Although, there was misunderstanding between the Governor and Askia, that misunderstand had been resolved and things have returned to normal,” our source disclosed.
