More Trouble for PDP as Police Seal Off Convention Venue (PHOTOS)

LAGOS AUGUST 17TH (URHOBOTODAY)-The problem of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP seems to be getting worst daily as the venue of the Party’s convention today in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital has been sealed off and taken over by the operatives of Nigerian Police and DSS.
Armed men of the force said to be acting on the directive of the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Kpotun Idris, stormed the Shark stadium in the early hour of Wednesday in about five (5) Police vans and barred anyone from having access to the facility.
The security operatives arrived Samson Siasia venue as early as 5am Wednesday, with Armoured Personnel Carriers sources.
In addition, Policemen have also sealed part of the Rivers State Government House,
including the Old Presidential and the Deputy Governor’s Lodges in the Port Harcourt city.
Security men are all over Moscow Road, where the stadium is located. Vehicles are not allowed to enter the street, and those who decide to walk are being questioned.
Recall that an Abuja Federal High Court, presided over by Justice Okon Abang, yesterday made an interluctory injunction stopping the convention and ordered the IGP to enforce his order.
He also order the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to stay away from the convention.
Earlier, another Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, presided by Justice Ibrahim Watila had also made an order that the convention should go ahead, in which the Police and INEC are directed to perform their respective roles.
As at the time of filling this report, leadership of the PDP are having a meeting to discuss the development and may dare the Police and go ahead with the convention.
