Confusion Trails PDP Convention in Port Harcourt

LAGOS MAY 21ST (URHOBOTODAY)-There is confusion within the ranks of the People’s Democratic Party under the control of the Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff who announced the postponement of the national convention of the party slated for Port Harcourt on Saturday.
However, all the PDP Governors supported by the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu and the party’s Board of Trustees went ahead with the national convention in Port Harcourt as at press time.
Already, Senator Ekweremadu, Chairman of PDP BoT, Senator Senator Walid Jibril, and Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko had addressed the convention.
It would be recalled that the acting national chairman of the party, Ali Modu Sheriff, who announced the postponement of the convention sighting court orders confirmed to newsmen on Saturday afternoon, at the Le Meridien Hotel in Port Harcourt that the party had to succumb to various court orders against the convention.
Stressing that he still remained the Chairman of the party, Sheriff said: “We are a responsible party. We have postponed the convention until the court cases are resolved.”
