LAGOS JUNE 2ND (URHOBOTODAY)-There was drama as Delta State Accountant-General, Cyril Agbele who disappeared in a controversial manner few days to Dr Emmanuel Uuduaghan’s living office re-surfaced in his office Monday.
Agbele could not give any reasons for his disappearance but speculations are rife that it has to do with avoiding the out going government from not looting the treasury of Delta State government.
More amazing is the fact that Governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, was on Monday denied access to his office and private room in the Government House.
URHOBOTODAY learnt that Okowa, accompanied by his wife, Dame Edith, his Deputy, Barrister Kingsley Otuaro, some political associates and staff of the Directorate of Government House to an early morning devotion, was jolted when he was being conducted round the new Government House by the Permanent Secretary of the Government House, Benson Oburoh, and could not gain access to his office.
However, a top government functionary at the Government House was said to have whispered to the governor that the office was being renovated.
Some said Okowa could not access the office because “spiritual cleansing” had just been performed on it and that it would not be wise to lead the crowd into it.
A faction of Okowa’s entourage however attributed the development to the frosty relationship between the immediate past governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, and Okowa, as some alleged that the ex-governor might still be holding on to the keys.
But a source in the Government House exonerated the ex-governor, saying the denial of access to Okowa’s office was the making of some aides to the new governor who are believed to be supervising some renovation works in the office.
Okowa’s inspection of the Government House complex followed a prayer session at the Government House Chapel which was attended by his wife, Edith, deputy governor, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro, politicians and staff of the complex.
