WARRI: The bid of President Goodluck Jonathan to run for another term in the 2015 presidential election has received the backing of Ijaw youths.
Already, the Western Zone of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) consisting of members in Delta, Edo and Ondo States, has kick-started a major campaign for President Jonathan’s second term bid.
The zone has also charged the National President of IYC, Comrade Abiye Kuromiema, to initiate moves to convince all Ijaw communities to support the Goodluck Jonathan 2015 project.

Arising from its meeting, weekend, in Warri, Delta State, the Western Zone Chairman of IYC, Comrade Preye Okaba, charged the National President of the group to flag off the campaign across all Ijaw communities in the country.
Also decrying the state of the East-West road, the group said the performance of President Jonathan in the past two year has earned him a second term when compared to previous administrations.
It therefore urged the IYC leadership to kick-start an enlightenment campaign at the grassroots to garner support for Jonathan 2015.
In another development, the Western zone of IYC has called on its National President, Kuromiema, to embark on the constitutional review process of the association .It however advised that a neutral body should be allowed to handle the process that would lead to the registration of the group with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
The zone also urged Kuromiema’s executive which has three months to go to ensure that a Board of Trustees (BoT) is constituted for IYC.
In same vein, Niger Delta activist, Barrister Eric Omare, has cautioned IYC that in any constitution review process, a committee different from the executive council should push the process.
