We Feed Kidnapped Briton with Cakes and Juice Drink-Suspect

JULY 22nd, (URHOBOTODAY). One of the suspects Chukwuemeka Benson arrested in connection with the kidnapped of a Briton, Dick Lee kidnapped on 16th July, 2013 at Muritala Mohammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, has revealed that they fed the Briton with cakes and juice drink while he was under their custody.
Chukwuemeka who was paraded on Monday at the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, Lagos gave a gory picture of the inhuman treatment meted to the Briton saying that throughout the period of his incarceration he was kept in a dark room in an uncompleted storey building by Ilewe bus-stop along Ago Palace Road, Okota, Lagos.
He added that through out the period he was not allowed to go out and was only fed two times in a day with cakes and juice drink.
According to him,” I came from Abia State few weeks ago on the invitation of my friend Ugo who worked as a watch night in the uncompleted building where the Whiteman was kept. My friend invited me to come and collect money I will use for business. But when I arrived, I saw this whiteman locked up in a dark room. My attempt to know more about the white man was rebuked by my friend.”
Narrating earlier on how Dick Lee was rescued while briefing journalists in his office, Lagos State Commissioner of Police Mr Umar Manko disclosed that on the receipt of the case of the abducted Briton he detailed a team of operatives to investigate the crime and ensure that the Briton was rescued unhurt.
“We advised the victim’s relatives to negotiate with the kidnappers on the ransom while the GSM number the kidnappers were using to make the ransom demand was sent to network provider. After much negotiation, the kidnappers agreed to collect N7.5m,” Manko disclosed, adding “At this junction, on 21/07/2013 at about 12.30 hours a combine team of operatives of State Intelligent Bureau and Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) condoned and arrested one Chukwuemeka Benson who came to collect a ransom of N7.5m along Lagos-Badagry Expressway.”
He said the suspect on interrogation confessed to the heinous crime and led operatives to their hideout at Ago-Okota, Lagos where the abducted Briton was rescued unhurt while the other members of the gang escaped with bullet wounds.
He assured that efforts are geared towards arresting the escaped members of the gang.
Responding to questions on the whereabouts of the rescued Briton, the Lagos State Police Boss affirmed that Dickson had returned home to United Kingdom, adding that he was allowed to go home when it became obvious that he needed urgent medical attention.
