The Monarch of Olomu Kingdom, HRM Ogbo Ognoni-Oghoro 1, has appealed to men and women of Nigeria to come out to fight and rid Nigeria of the current man made disease that adversely afflicting the people and threatening the stability and continue existence of the nation.
He equally enjoins Delta State government to provide monthly welfare package and free medical services to all Deltans above the age 70 years in consonance with practices in civilized nation.
Ohworode, who made the appeal in Otorere-Olomu/Echetor, Ughelli lga Delta State, during the celebration of his 96th years birthday ceremony and 25th, Coronation anniversary who described the ills plugging the country as corruption, oppression. in justice, self centeredness, nepotism, unemployment, political killings, kidnapping, assassinations and examination malpritice among others, urged that all hands must be on deck to help in salvaging and building Nigeria as a country of love, peace, unity, progress and indivisibility.
He advised that traditional rulers being the grass root security officers and custodian of the peoples’ culture and value should be given statutory constitutional roles in the governance of the people, adding that if the governance is left to the politicians alone, things would continue to fall apart.
The Monarch who testified that Olomu Kingdom had experienced relative peace and unity including educational, infrastructural and religious development however appeal to Delta State government for provisions of more social amenities.
“I wish to appeal to the government to please site a polytechnic in Okpe-Olomu, provide employment for our teaming unemployed graduates and build skill acquisition centers in Olomu Kingdom. Give a state Commissionership slot to an Olomu indigene as was done in the past regimes.
“Government should also provide pipe borne water in all the communities, renovates and rehabilitate all our dilapidated primary schools as well as provide learning materials and furnitures for them. Provide monthly welfare package and free medical services to all Deltans above the age 70 years in consonance with practices in civilized nations, “ the Monarch requested
