Robbers Strike Standard Chartered Bank, Cart Away $100,000

LAGOS SEPTEMBER 13TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Dare-devil armed robbers Friday afternoon struck the Asokoro, Abuja branch of Standard Chartered bank, carting away a customers $100,000.
The money, Pointblanknews.com gathered, had just being cashed by a middle-aged customer before the robbers blocked his car at the bank’s gate, dispossessed him of the cash.

The robbers, said to be five, fired several shots in the air to ward off panic-striken residents of the high-brow street.
The Rambo-style operation took policemen and soldiers stationed at the nearby ECOWAS secretariat by surprise.
Eye-witnesses told Pointblanknews.com that the robbers had approached the bank from the ECOWAS secretariat end of Kwame Nkrumah Crescent, and parked their Toyota jeep beside the bank.
According to the witnesses, the robbers had first loitered on the sparsely populated street, apparently waiting for the customer to exit the bank with the money, before launching their attack.
Neither the bank officials nor the traumatized customer agreed to comment on the attack.
A customer, who declined to disclose his identity blamed the robbery on “insider information.”
Pointblanknews.com could not get the Divisional Police Office in charge of Asokoro comment on the robbery.
