A Christian Cleric, Pastor Fidelis Ajoke has been arraigned before an Oredo Magistrate Court sitting in Benin City for allegedly raping and eloping with a 13-year old daughter of his General Overseer of an undisclosed church in Benin City, Edo State.
The 13-year old J.S.S 3 student told the court that the accused person, an assistant pastor in her father’s church started defiling her since November 2012.
She further stated that in January this year, the pastor approached her to steal her mother’s money to give him in order to treat the pastor’s sick mother which she obliged.
The victim also told the court that she eloped with the “Man of God” to Ubiaruku in Delta State in order to avert the wrath of her mother, if she discovers that she stole her N170,000.00.
The teenager whose name was not disclosed further testified that the accused pastor used part of the money to rent a house in Ubiaruku where both of them cohabited and later the pastor took her to Lagos and Port-Harcourt.
The 13-year old student said her trip round major cities in Nigeria was cut short when one of her friends later called her with her new mobile number while in Ubiaruku that her photograph was shown on television stations as a missing person in Edo State. It was the call that prompted her to return to Benin City, thus leading to the arrest of the Pastor.
Fresh Angle gathered that the accused pleaded not guilty, while the case has been adjourned to a later date.
