Delta State Governorship candidate of Mega Progressive Peoples Party (MPPP), Chief Alaowei Afro Biukeme has threaten to drag Delta State Governor, Dr. Ewetan Uduaghan to court if he did not conduct local government election in the state within a week.
He also took groups singing praises of Uduaghan to the cleaners, describing them as sycophants.
Expressing his grievances to Urhobotoday over the inability of the state governor to conduct local government election when Edo State successfully conducted their election recently, Biukeme alleged that Uduaghan may be benefitting from the non conduction of local government election. He maintained that if local government election is conducted in the state PDP would lose.
Biukeme also lashes at a group under the aegis of Delta Leaders Peoples Movement, describing them as faceless propaganda machine of the state government.
According to him, “I can tell you that the group is faceless. They only operate on pages of newspapers and internets. They are set of people who are not known in Delta State. First let them tell us where they hail from, their villages. In short, they are not from Delta state. They are paid to do what they are doing. God is watching them.”
He complained that after two years in office, Uduaghan had not been able to conduct local government elections, adding that he is rather interested in how he would continue to plant his tools in the councils.
“Are you not aware when the transition Chairman of Ughelli South Council, Chairman Hon Ovis was alleged to had given Uduaghan N5m for his 25th marriage anniversary”?. Buikeme recalled.
Buikeme who said he did not have any personal problem with Uduaghan, however stressed, “I am only interested on how to move Delta State forward for the benefit of all Deltans because I know we have the resources and man power to make the average Deltan comfortable. I will not sit down and watch Uduaghan and his clique destroy our common destiny because I know the federal allocation coming to the state is enough to better the life of the average Deltan. Uduaghan must be called upon at the end his tenure to give account of his stewardship while in office.”
He charged Mrs Ibifuro Tatua led Delta Leaders Peoples Movement to show the world the achievement of Uduaghan in the past six years of his administration in the areas of his so called new image he has created for Delta State.
“How he has tackled crime and corruption above all, the budget is well implemented. His campaigns are tissues of lies. Deltans have no clean water, not even pipe borne water. How much was school fees before now and how much did he reduce it to?
“Today, Delta State is a beehive of corruption and the rate of crime is increasing. It is true that today Delta state is operating on a serious budget deficit. The state is owing huge amount of billions of naira as a result of Uduaghans maladministration.
“You can see the army of unemployed youths. It is clear that the agenda of this so called group is to sing Uduaghan’s praises and get their share of the state allocation. Deltans know the true position of things. So strangers cannot tell us what is happening here. However like I used to say, no level of blackmail will stop me from doing what is right in my struggle to free Deltans from the captivity of Uduaghan’s prison,” he said.
