LAGOS JUNE 19TH (URHOBOTODAY) The Niger Delta People Salvation Front (NDPSF) led by Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo Asari last Wednesday marked the twentieth anniversary of the annulment of June 12 1993 Elections with a Freedom Walk in the Oil City of Warri.
At the walk hundreds of youths clad in colourful vest carried placards with various inscriptions like ‘IBB Why Annul June 12?”, “We demand Sovereign National Conference Now”, “The South is not Slave to the North”, Amaechi you are a Traitor”, “Arrest Buhari now”, On Goodluck Jonathan we Stand”, “For our Freedom from the Supremacist we shall Dance Naked”, “Is Nigeria an Artificial Creation of 1914?” and “June 12 Symbol of the Supremacy of the Peoples will” amongst others.
The Freedom walkers who shut down the ancient oil city causing serious traffic jam marching from the PTI Junction to the Effurun Round -About with cultural and musical displays left no one in doubt on their quest for the convocation of Sovereign National Conference (SNC). They also left no one in doubt that they were Pro-Goodluck Jonathan supporters.
Addressing the crowd of freedom walkers, Comrade Rex Anighoro demanded for the immediate arrest and prosecution of General Ibrahim Badamosi Babaginda, Sani Abacha even in death and Abdulsami Abubakar for the roles they played in the criminal annulment of the peoples will between 23rd June 1993 and 7th July 1998 . He also stated that all past military Head of states should be unrecognized, striped of all national honors, benefits and those who are alive barred from participation at the Council of States meetings with immediate effect. He demanded the removal of their names from every street or national monument that has been named after them as a result of their criminally earned status.
Comrade Rex Anighoro stated that his call has become necessary as the over throw of democracy as well as annulment of the June 12 1993 elections has conferred on them an immoral, criminal and despicable role models status. He noted that coups were an aberration, criminal and immoral and that there were no justification in recognizing and honoring some coup plotters because they were successful in their criminal conquest while others have been demonized simply because they failed same pursuit.
” If the immorality of coup plotting could be recognized then the morality of the immoral at all levels must be recognized. If Buhari a notorious coup plotter and murderer can be called a Man of integrity and our sensibilities insulted everyday on the pretext that he overthrew corrupt democratic government, then the likes of Lawrence Anini should be given postmortem National recognition at least he claimed that he robbed the immoral and dubious rich People to help the poor,” he noted.
Comrade Rex Anighoro,Spokesman to the Niger Delta People Salvation Front (NDPSF) speaking further, stated that Generals Gowon, Mohammed, Buhari, Babangida, Abacha and Abdulsalami all of them from the North promoted a Northern and Born to rule agenda in their governments of aberrations, sustaining and expanding the gulf between the North and South of the British amalgam just like the imperialist have always wanted. He maintained that all of these coup plotters who plunged Nigeria into a civil war, annulled democracy in 1983 and annulled June 12 in 1993 are the strangulators of the aspirations of a freedom seeking people determined to be liberated from slavery and Supremacism.
Speaking further, he said although Chief M.K.O Abiola was never a saint his popular victory at the June 12 polls where Nigerians against all odds voted a Muslim-Muslim ticket spoke volume on why June 12 has become an enduring symbol of the supremacy of the Peoples Will.
“I make bold to say that the problem of Nigeria has always been the Political North who wants to dominate the rest of us even if it means fighting against one another, the goal is power must always be with the North. Comrade Rex questioned “Who led a war against the Easterners even after the decisions of Aburi Accord? It was Gowon acting the script of the political North,Who annulled democracy in 1983 sustaining the political interest of the North against Obafemi Awolowo pursuit for true federalism? It was Muhammadu Buhari a Northerner. Who annulled June 12 Presidential Elections won by Chief M.KO Abiola shattering the interest of the Political North and heralding a common consensus of nationalism? It was a Northerner called Babangida. Who proscribed all democratic structures, got Abiola arrested and his murderous gang killing Kudirat his wife? It was Sani Abacha a Northerner. Who supervised the murder of Chief M.K.O Abiola under controversial circumstances after for the umpteen time refused to negotiate his mandate? It was General Abdulsalami, a Northerner.We can never forget these cumulative satanic acts against the will of the people in protection and furtherance of the Northern Political interest.
Comrade Rex Anighoro who is also the leader of the Movement for the Advancement of Urhobo Nation (MAUN) stated that except a Sovereign National Conference is convocated Nigeria remains an enterprise for the promotion of group interest.
He called on all oppressed people to join in the pursuit of freeing themselves from the strangulation of those he described as the Gambaris, noting that it is a common cause be a Nupe,Ebira,Tiv,Berom,Urhobo,Efik,Igalla and Isoko among others. He called on the eternal vigilance of the people, noting that the Dr. Goodluck Jonathan Presidency symbolizes freedom from supremacism and predominance by those who believes we are all conquered people
