The Presidency and the National Assembly have been urged to as a sign of respect and for his unequal contribution to legislative business at the senate to urgently immortalize Late Senator Pius Ewherido as an astute lawmaker who until his demise gallantly represented the Delta Central Senatorial district.
Senator Ewherido Friends Followers Forum (SEFFF) in a statement in Abuja signed by the coordinator and spokesman of the group; Barrister Emerhana Ono Paul and Theophilus Onojeghen respectively said the call to immortalize the late senator became escegent following his bright contribution to legislative matters in the floor of the house and his quality representation given to his constituents.
The group posited that in the history of Delta State politics no one has represented his people at the floor of the senate like the Late Sen. Ewherido who proved himself as a seasoned legislator both at the National Assembly and Delta State House of Assembly where he served as acting speaker and deputy speaker respectively.
According to the statement, “we members of Senator Ewherido Friends and Followers Forum (SEFFF) is calling on the presidency, senate president, Senator David Mark and the entire National Assembly to urgently immortalize our fallen hero who enormously contributed in no small major to the house debate and general legislative business. Delta State government and the Delta State House of Assembly should also move the same direction in the recognition of his stewardship. Federal and state institutions should be named after him.
We are not political interest seeking group, but we want Late Senator Ewherido who is our mentor and role model not to be impetuously forgotten. He left a lasting legacy in our minds. Though tribe and tongue may differ, though political party may not be the same, in the immortalization of Sen. Pius Akpor Ewherido we stand. The Late Senator is one of the finest lawmaker in the history of Delta State and he showed that even in the Senate. Not for party sake. Not for the senatorial district or his tribe but for the celebration of excellence and competence.”
The group warmed all political aspirants seeking for the replacement of Late Sen. Ewherido to desist from drawing his name into any fetch campaign that would not represent the struggle mounted by the late senator.
The statement however decried the number of aspirants jostling to replace the late senator as outrageous and it shows envy of the late senator who represented the Urhobo cause before his untimely death.
“We want to state that the number of aspirants jostling to replace him as outrageous and shameful. Urhobo should vote for somebody that can best represent the cause for which our distinguished senator died. Our people should vote wisely for the purpose of posterity”, the group stated.
