LAGOS SEPTEMBER 18TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Senatorial aspirant under the platform of All Progressives Party, APC, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor has reiterated his desire to restore the lost glory of the Urhobo nation if given the chance to get to the Senate.
Olorogun Emerhor made this promise at a function of the Urhobo Political Movement (UPM) in Ughelli during the weekend, noting that the Urhobo nation has been marginalized in Nigeria’s politics.
He said that what the Urhobos needed in the Senate was somebody who has the interest of the people at heart, adding that they need somebody who can represent the Urhobo people well in the national level.
He noted that the Urhobos who are the fifth largest ethnic group in the country have been neglected for too long in the political arena, calling on all Urhobo sons and daughters to stand up and fight for the restoration of the Urhobo nation.
The renowned banker and insurance mogul while addressing the mammoth crowd, stressed that now was the time for the Urhobo nation to get national recognition in the polity of the country.
Olorogun Emerhor also called on the people to disregard any negative publication about him, saying that they are done to tarnish his emerge.
He said the only way the Urhobos can be strong was for them to stand together as one, expressing sadness over how some Urhobos fight each other just to pull the other person down.
Speaking to journalists at the occasion, Olorogun Emerhor cleared the air on the purported endorsement of Barrister Festus Keyamo, saying that the endorsement had no weight as it was done in his (Keyamo’s) house.
He said; “There is a party process determining who shall be the candidate of a political party. The APC as a party has not done any primaries or negotiated any arrangement to produce a candidate. The national is aware of the action of this person that you have mentioned and they are going to react appropriately.”
On the purported interview he granted a Vanguard reporter, Olorogun Emerhor once again cleared the air, stating that he never made such comment and that people were brandishing such lies because they were afraid of his front line status in the race.
He said; “Did you noticed that it was the same Vanguard that published the refutal. That is to tell you that if there was any truth in the earlier interview the same paper will not publish it. And as I speak to you I have a letter of apology from that journalist. He leaves in Sapele. People just want to brandish these lies because they are afraid of my front runner status in this business. They want to brand me as somebody who cannot stand by the truth. My party is APC and it is APC that I will work for. I cannot work for APC and another party at the same time.”
