Easter Celebration: Police Beef Up Security in Lagos
LAGOS APRIL 16TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Lagos state Police Command has beefed up security in Lagos in order to protect life and property during the coming Easter Festival and Lagos Sate Black Heritage Carnival.
A statement signed by Lagos State Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO) Ms Ngozi Braide, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) made available to URHOBOTODAY, an online medium said in view of the forthcoming Easter Festival and Lagos State Black Heritage Carnival, the Police Command has put in place adequate security measures to forestall hoodlums from perpetrating any sinister act during in the period.
She disclosed that a contingent of strike forces and specialized units of the force which
includes Police Mobile Force (PMF), Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Explosive Ordinance Division (EOD) and conventional men have been positioned in all points to monitor vehicles and individuals coming into the state adding that the police would also conduct stop and search on vehicles and pedestrians
She maintained that the State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) Operatives have also been deployed to all nooks and crannies for covert operation.
“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State CP Umar Manko has since directed all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to supervise and monitor this intensive surveillance which will also pay serious attention to strategic places such as: worship centers, shopping malls, financial institutions, business plaza, markets, government installations, recreation centers and motor parks among others,” Braide disclosed.
Meanwhile the Commissioner of Police on behalf of the officers and men of the command wishes Christians and Lagosians a happy Easter and Black Heritage Carnival celebration. He further, thanks the citizens for their unalloyed cooperation so far while urging them to always provide useful information to the police.
