Deltans in Diaspora Pledges Support for Ayiri’s Water Way Security Committee

Chief Ayiri Emami

LAGOS DECEMBER 2ND (URHOBOTODAY)-A group of Deltans residing in South Africa under the aegis of Comrades in South Africa (CSA) have pledged its commitment and loyalty to the Chief Ayiri Emami led Water Ways Security Committee set up by the Delta State Government to curtail the excesses of criminality in the State waterways.
In a release dated 29th November, 2013 and made available to newsmen, the President of the group, Comrade Michael Nnabuife stated that, what is currently being witnessed in Ugborodo community leading to the arrest and docking of Chief Benson Dube (Olaja-Orori of Ugborodo Community) and two other youths of the community by a detachment of the Nigerian Navy stationed in the Excravos River reflects the true position of some persons who are bent on perpetuating criminality in the community.

“The Ayiri led Water Ways Security Committee and its members are actually the captain of peace that is currently being witnessed in the Excravos River. It is as a result of the non-tolerance of the committee in accommodating any form of illegal oil bunkery in the area that some unscrupulous elements are battling earnestly to tarnish their good works,” the group stated.
As regards recent publications in some media linking the Ugborodo National Youth Financial Secretary, Comrade Besidone Eyengho, also known as Kiki to an alleged killing of an indigene of Ugborodo community simply identified as Sunny Comrade Nnabuife posited that, it is indeed laughable for anyone to think a person like Kiki would indulge in such an incident as wanting to kill someone when right from his university days, he has been struggling for the liberation of the weak in the society.
According to him, “When we heard of the story, we immediately knew that someone was trying to blackmail him to score a cheap publicity. With the recent turn of events following the arrest of some individuals who had sponsored the publication, it is obvious that he has been vindicated,” he added.
It would be recalled that, the group had in August 2012, held a peaceful protest at South Africa where they held seminars and sensitizing Deltans residing in South Africa on the developmental strides of the Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan led administration as well as commending him for the opportunities given to some of its members to contribute their quota in serving their home State as well as the recent renovation of schools within Delta State.
Also speaking on the report, the President of Delta State Oil Producing Community Graduate Association (DESPOGA), Comrade Agbefe Sebastine while reacting to the said report in an earlier publication, regarded the allegation on Eyengho as malicious and a slight on his person who he referred to as an individual who has distinguished himself in all ramifications as a law abiding Deltan.
“I would like them to know and realise that the name which they are trying to smear has served in the capacity as Senate President of the National Association of Delta State Students (NADESTU), President, National Association of Itsekiri Students (NAIS) and a devoted advocate for peaceful coexistence among Deltans irrespective of ethnic affiliation.
“He is a Graduate of Chemistry, has a Masters Degree in Business Administration and a presently a Masters Degree student in Environmental Chemistry in the prestigious University of Benin.
“He is also a member of the Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN), America Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), Institute of Safety Professionals of Nigeria (ISPON) and others too numerous to mention,” he added.
