LAGOS NOVEMBER 30TH (URHOBOTODAY)-The Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on NDDC and former Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area, Hon. Chief Ferguson Onwo has financed medical treatments of patients in some communities in Isoko South.
At a Three-day exercised organized by the Poka Foundation, an NGO owned by Mr. Augustine Uwuseba and financed by Chief Onwo, saw medical experts from India traveling round selected communities treating hundreds of patients for various ailments and administering drugs free of charge to all attendees.

Speaking to newsmen in his Country home in Olomoro, Isoko South, Chief Onwo explained that the programme is part of efforts by him to ensure that the people around him live in good health, adding that he will continue to give his utmost best to humanity at all times..
“This project is one which I have taken to heart. The importance of sound health cannot in anyway be over-emphasised. A lot of our people have died from minor ailments that programmes like this could address. That is why I have taken it upon myself to commit my resources to saving lives through avenues like this.
“It wasn’t easy bringing this team of experts all the way from India to Isoko, but my philosophy is that no task is too great to be undertaken for those you genuinely love”‘ he said.
Continuing, “Last year December, I co-sponsored an event like this which helped in ensuring that our people have good health during the yuletide. I will by next year sponsor another one which will cover more communities and affect more people positively. My only prayer is that God give me all it takes to continuously put smiles on the faces of people”, he concluded.
A visit to the Olomoro Health Centre where the Programme for that particular community was held, saw hundreds of patients waiting to be attended to. One f the patients and a community leader, Chief S.O Otho who spoke to our Reporter stated that gestures of this nature are far more valuable than Christmas rice often dolled out to the people by politicians during the Yuletide. While stating that Hon. Onwo is a rare gift to t he community and the Isoko nation in general, called on othe public officers to support programs like this as only those who are alive can celebrate Christmas.
“I wasn’t surprised when someone told me this Programme is being bankrolled by Ferguson. He is my son and I know what he can do. He is someone hat has flare for helping people in every way he deem necessary, and I pray tha God should see him through in all his aspirations”.
