Delta: DESOPADEC Installs N25.6m Solar Scheme in Orogun Community

LAGOS JUNE 9TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) initiated by Delta State g government to cater for the social-economical development of oil producing areas in the state has finally resolve the water problem of the indigenes of Oviara Umusu of Orogun Community by installing solar operated water project of 20,000 liters at the cost of N25.6m in the community.
The water project which was supplied by Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) Commissioner representing Ughelli North and Ethiope-East, Rt (Hon) Christopher Ominimini Obiuwevbi is the largest in the whole Orogun community.
Commissioning the project on behalf of DESOPADEC, Hon Kenny Okolugbo DESOPADEC Commissioner representing Ukwuani area advised the people to make good use of the amenities, adding that DESOPADEC had installed the project in their area in order to cushion water problem in the community. He said this kind gesture by Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan’s government is al replicated in other oil producing areas.
Speaking earlier, Ominimini disclosed that he had decided to install the water scheme in the community in order to cushion the water scarcity problem facing the community hence they do not have any source of portable drinking clean water.
He assured the elated indigenes of the community that with time the Agency would extend the flow of water from compound to compound by connecting the main tank with pipes.
“I am the son of this soil. After consulting with Orogun personalities we concluded that the water project should be install in this place. This project cost N25.6m. With time we are going to extend the flow of water from compound to compound. It is a solar energy control. Whether there is power supply or not the water will continue to flow,” he said.
