LAGOS OCTOBER 26TH (URHOBOTODAY)-The people of Ugborodo community in Delta State, South-South Nigeria have raised the alarm over the Military invasion and rough handling of the residents, owing to their demand for accountability and justice.
The aggrieved natives in a statement on Sunday alleged that there were “certain political elements in the community” who were “trying to use state government apparatus to subject the good people of Ugborodo community into political slavery for their own gains”.
The residents alleged that the bane of the attack on the community was their criticism over failure by the government to implement N 5. 4 Billion 200 housing units project for the community, despite the release of N 4billion out of the sum, to the contractor the project was awarded to.
The residents also alleged that due to heavy financial inducement, different security arms including the navy were jostling to benefit from the largesse, given to the security operatives who partake in the attack.
The statement specified that the alleged Military deployment to the community was a ploy to subjugate the residents, by forcing them to comply to “negative political ideology”.
The Ugborodo people who expressed their aversion to the unfolding attack, stated the act was unacceptable and accused the state government of earmarking huge sums for the operations.
The community cried out that they were peace – loving people, therefore did not deserve the treatment meted out to them.
They have in the meantime vowed to maintain their opposition to Dr. Emmanuel Uduagahan led administration, as long as it remained hostile to the community.
