LAGOS DECEMBER 14TH (URHOBOTODAY) Nigeria’s former Vice-President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has come out strongly to react to Obasanjo’s 18 Page Letter to President Jonathan titled “Before it is too late”.
A press statement signed by Turaki Mandate made available to Urhobotoday, Atiku who blamed the political situation Nigerians found themselves today as a result of what he described as political God fatherism, called on the Nation’s leaders to focus mainly on Nigeria’s basic needs and how best solutions could be provided for the benefit of Nigeria and Nigerians
According to him, “Our priorities must be lasting solutions to unemployment, safety and security for all and vast improvement of our failing education systems”.
Recalling his unrelenting fight for the sustenance of Democracy in Nigeria, Atiku condemned the menace of Political godfather-ism which over time has resulted in evil political succession which has played an unlikely effect on the developmental stages of the Nation.
The Former Vice-President expressed dissatisfaction at the leadership style of the President Goodluck Jonathan which he tagged as “Consistent Failure” on areas of critical concern.
“That said, I have firmly fought for a democracy in Nigeria where the voters choose their future leaders, not political party bosses and godfathers.
“If the President insists on destroying PDP and thinks his record of unemployment, violence and scandals are worthy, he is welcome to run again. I am confident Nigerians can, and will exercise their democratic right to choose the leadership they desire in 2015”.
