Senator Pius Ewherido

The recent role played by Senator Pius Ewherido representing Delta State Central Senatorial Zone in the House of Senate in merger attempt with newly formed mega party All Progress Congreee (APC) has drawn the wrath of leaders of Democratic People’ Party (DPP) in Delta Central senatorial district and as such have passed vote of no confidence on him.
In a well attended meeting of the chairmen and secretaries of the party in the eight LGAs in Delta Central held in Ughelli on Tuesday, Feb 19, six out of the eight LGA’s representative supported the no vote of confidence passed on Ewherido.
Chairmen and secretaries of the party from Ughelli North, Sapele,Ughelli South, Ethiope East, Ethiope West and Okpe LGAs okayed the no vote of confidence, while Udu and Uvwie LGAs abstained from voting.
In an interview shortly after the meeting, Chief Engr. Lance Orhiero who is the Delta State Secretary of the DPP observed that Senator Ewherido has been playing anti party activities in his involvement in the PDM and that is what provoked the leadership of the party in the six LGAs of Delta Central to pass the no vote of confidence on him.
He lambasted Ewherido for beating the gun on the issue of a merger of the DPP with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in his media statement declaring that the DPP had already concluded plans for the merger.
Engr. Lance explained that the process of the DPP joining the merger was still ongoing and in fact, Senator Ewherido is one among those appointed to lead the DPP delegation for the merger talks.
“So whatever Ewherido did was not the position of the party as the merger process is still ongoing”.
He particularly called on the distinguished Senator to retrace his steps on the issue of anti party activities that has provoked the DPP leadership in Delta Central to pass a no confidence vote on him.
