LAGOS OCTOBER 21ST (URHOBOTODAY)-Two months after being honoured by South-South Youth Assembly as the most accessible public office holder in South South Region, Commissioner representing Ughelli North and Ethiope-East Local Government Area in the board of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESPADEC) Rt.Hon. (Chief) Chris E maye Obiuwevbi has again been conferred an award of “Excellence of the Best Unit and Ward Result” in the just concluded Delta Central by election by Delta Central Youth Vanguard.
Speaking during the award presentation ceremony in Ughelli, Chairman of the group, Mr. Godspower Okagbare noted that Obuiwevbi’s unit and ward in Agbarha-Otor, recorded the highest number of votes for the PDP with 923, and 13,966 votes respectively inthe bye election.
While noting that “reward for service is an invitation to more service,” Okagbare stated that “the daunting task of bringing all our aggrieved party members back to the party saw Chief Ominimini Obiuwevwi transversed the State and reaching out to members.
“His leadership style brought all the factions once observed in the State and the Senatorial district under one umbrella. This great unity achieved within the short period as state working committee of PDP member and his position as DESOPADEC Commissioner is a testimony of his mastering of the Delta State politics.”
Receiving the award, Obiuwevbi attributed the victory of the party to the visionary and qualitative leadership of the State Governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, saying the Governor had put machineries in place for the party to win the election through his commitment to the infrastructural and human capital development of the Urhobo nation.
While commending the Urhobo people for “leaving the era of opposition” he noted that the candidate of the PDP, Chief Emmanuel Aguariavwodo “is credible and have legislative experience and national touch as former member of the House of Representatives and former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, (NDDC).”
Pointing out that no single individual could claim responsibility for the victory of the party in the election, he dedicated the award to the people of Agbarha-Otor and the Delta Central whom he said worked tirelessly to remove the name of opposition from the Urhobo nation.
He called on Chief Great Ogboru, Chief Ede Dafinone and their Democratic People’s Party, (DPP) supports and their counterparts in the All Progressives Congress, (APC) to move over to the PDP and desist from working for the opposition.
Obiuwebvi used the occasion to call on the people of Delta South Senatorial District to give their senatorial position to Governor Uduaghan in 2015 and all Deltans to support the re-election quest of President Goodluck Jonathan.
