Burning Of Suspected Woman Ritualist: Delta Police Warns Against Jungle Justice

Delta CP, Zanna Ibrahim

LAGOS JANUARY 28TH (URHOBOODAY)-The Delta State Police Command on Sunday warned residents against jungle justice on suspected criminals in the State.
The Delta State Acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamka handed down the warning in a chat with newsmen in Ekete-Inland.
This followed Aniamaka’s confirmation that a woman who disguised as a lunatic to perpetuate ritual businesses was set ablaze in Ekete-Inland in Udu Local Government Area, Delta State.
He stressed that the Delta State Police Command had always insisted that the public should not engage in jungle justice but to report all cases to the appropriate authorities.
According to DSP Aniamaka, “There was in fact a case of burning of a suspected ritualist to death.
“The incident occurred at the Delta Steel Company (DSC) Expressway near Ekete-Inland junction in Ovwian. The Command has always called on the public not to engage in jungle justice but to report all cases to the appropriate authorities”.
The woman was allegedly found with human parts and a fresh dead body on top of a refuse dump site, along the DSC Expressway in Ekete-Inland on Saturday. She was consequently burnt to death by an angry mob.
