LAGOS APRIL 5TH (URHOBOTODAY)-The Managing Director of DESOPADEC , Olorogun Williams Makinde has assured people of Umutu Community in Ukwuani LGA, Delta State of the Agency’s intention to fastrack the reconstruction of skill acquisition centre, reconstruction of Umutu market and completion of the contruction work of the bridge linking the express road and Azudaba.
Makinde who made the disclosure during DESOPADEC management team visit to the skill acquisition centre, market and bridge in continuation of the agency bid to actualise Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s S.M.A.R.T Agenda on strategic wealth creation and provision of jobs for all Deltans promised that engineers would be mobilize to the site of the skill acquisition centre in the next one week to do the costing and scoping which he said will be fowarded to the Governor for approval.
He added that the fund for the construction of the skill acquisition center was already in the 2016 budget . He also asked that the building plan be provided for him.
Makinde who described the construction of the bridge linking the express road and Azudaba as very vital affirmed that the budget for the construction of the bridge is equally enshrined in 2016.
During the visit their first point of call was the Okpala-Uku palace were the Executive Director Social Services , Hon . Christopher Ochor Ochor briefed the Chiefs present the reason for the managing Director visit to Umutu.
Hon Christopher Ochor Ochor accompanied by the General Spokesperson of the Community , Hon (Chief) A.O. Nwachukwu, took the team on a tour of the Sites.
At the Umutu martket, Ochor Ochor briefed Makinde and the DESOPADEC team on the outstanding work on the market , include replacement of the rotten wood holding the roof, concrete flooring, completion of the police post and toilet facilities and interlocking of the road from the entrance to the market.
He explained that the major project has to do with the completion of the on -going storey building housing about thirty-six lock -up stalls.
The team then Proceed to the Umutu bridge which has a temporary structure on ground .This short bridge across the River Ethiope when completed , would link Umutu with Azudaba and the the express road.
The last place visited was the skill acquisition center,sited very close to the Umutu bridge. This center is sited on a large expanse of land which according to Hon.(Chief) A.O. Nwachukwu,was because of the plan for expansion they had on their minds.
