LAGOS OCTOBER 29TH (URHOBOTODAY)- A leader Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-South Region, Chief Sunny Onuesoke has ascribed the recent victory of Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa at the Governorship election tribunal as victory for the people of Delta State.
Onuesoke who spoke to journalists at Asaba immediately the tribunal delivered the judgment said the case could not have been decided any other way because there was great evidence during the last election that the people of Delta state who were greatly in need of prosperity cast their votes across ethnic, zones and religious divide to ensure that Okowa emerge as the governor of Delta State.
He said the jubilation across the state that trailed the pronouncement of the judgment is a testimony that the judgment is the choice of the people of the state.
“I do not see any reason to celebrate because I know ab initio that there is no case against Okowa. We do not have any other party in Delta state. We are bought and cannot be deceived. Evidence are bound that Okowa won across the state unlike other parties who did not win their wards. Delta state is a hardcore PDP state. Even if all of Nigeria switch to APC, this is one state that will not switch,” he vowed.
Congratulating Okowa on a well deserve victory, he wondered why a party who got only 60,000 votes and the other won few wards in only two local government area would want to unseat a candidate who won across all boards through the back door by applying legal technicalities.
He appealed to both Chief Great Ogboru of Labour Party and Chief Emerhor O’tega of APC to jettison the idea of appealing against the tribunal judgment, stressing that such effort is tantamount to distracting the governor from delivering the dividend of democracy as stipulated in his prosperity for all manifestoes.
Rather, Onuesoke advised the duo to shield their swords and join the winning government of Okowa so as to move the state forward.
Hear him. “It is not compulsory that either Ogboru or O’tega must must become a state governor before they could contribute their quota to the development of Delta State. Already the governor had invited them to join him in the governance of the state. They should put pride aside and join him in the administration of the state and contribute towards the better of the people Delta State,”
