LAGOS SEPTEMBER 5TH (URHOBOTODAY)-An Urhobo woman from Delta State and Nigerian born Spanish lawyer, Helen Mukoro, has emerged the presidential candidate of an opposition party for the forthcoming election in Spain. She set a new record as the first woman and an immigrant to emerge presidential flag bearer of a political party. She will be running on the platform of Union De Todos, a party she founded earlier this year.
Helen, who is also a forensic expert and author of many books, was born in Delta State and worked briefly in the Governor’s Office before she travelled to Spain in 1992. She gained prominence in Spanish politics, when she founded a political party and later became the first Nigerian-Spanish to contest for the Mayor of Denia in May this year. Although she lost the election, her popularity soared higher as several people endorsed him for the highest office in the land.

Helen holds several academic qualifications. Aside graduating in Law at the Spanish National University Alicante, she also holds a Master degree in Criminology, Masters degree in Social Education, a post graduate certificate in Tax and Labor Management, a post graduate certificate in Forensic Psychology, and a post graduate certificate in Immigration and Domestic Violence. She worked as a legal consultant (Immigration Department) at the Red Cross Society, Spain and presently owns a legal firm. She served as the CEO and President at the African Europe Chamber of Commerce. CEO/President at National Agency of Forensic Experts, Mediators and Technical Professionals of Spain and Europe.

Helen had followed the trail of the United States President, Barack Obama, who was the first African-American to win the presidency.Speaking on why she decided to go into politics, she said: “I went into politics because; we have to become more involved in decisions that affect us as citizens. And we have an obligation to ensure the legacy we leave to future generations: Politicians, we all are. I saw the need to go into politics as a means to making my explanation of political leadership that suits the interest of the people and I’m ready to listen and care for the needs of constituents.”
The 2015 Spanish general election would be held on or before Sunday, December 20, 2015.

  1. Africans are systematically proving their competence in ruling the World. Race or Nationality does not count in EU nations but ability to prove ones worth and competence matters hence they are better than African Countries in terms of reference.Now, Africans nations needs to rise and think outside the box and imitates the social poiltical magima the EU nations are adopting where African precisely Nigerian could not only be voted for but wins Elections either into the upper or lower legislative chambers. This is a good news that Africans are truly touching the world.
