Onuesoke to Deltans: Cooperate with Okowa in Restructuring Battered Economy

LAGOS JUNE 29TH (URHOBOTODAY)- Renowned Environmentalist and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain, Chief Sunny Onuesoke has appealed to people of Delta State to put aside their differences by cooperating with Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa on his task of restructuring the battered economy of the state.
Onuesoke appeal came on recent allegations that Delta State economy is had nose dive and the state is debt running into billions of naira.

Speaking to newsmen in Warri, Delta State on Okowa’s revelation about the battered economy of Delta State, Onuesoke noted that the governor’s action was a show of transparency and as such he deserve commendation for not keeping the people of the state in the dark as to the reality of the state of economy of Delta State, adding that now that the tru state of the economy has been revealed, it would be better all hands should be deck for the restructuring of the economy.
On the way forward, Onuesoke advised that Deltans particularly the lawmakers and political office holders should cooperate with the governor on how to restore the economy of the state .
“This is not the time to trade blames hence the deed has been done, but is the time for action to correct anomalies” he noted.
He maintained that they should be prepared to make sacrifices for the restructuring of the poor economy of the state.
“The governor has promised that he is not going to be exempted in scarifying for revival of economy of the state . As such lawmakers, political office holders and the citizenry should also sacrifice for the state by cutting cost on whatever they want to do. The people of Delta State, those are in or out of office should also think of whatever sacrifice they could give to assist the Governor in pulling the state out of the present economic predicament,” Onuesoke advised.
He called on all Deltans to see the present economical challenge as an opportunity for the inward economic survival and development of the state , adding that it is now time to effectively focus the programme of ‘Delta Beyond Oil’.
According to him, “ The present economic crisis in the state is lesson for all of us to think inward on what to do as to develop and revive the economy for the betterment of all. Right now, it is glaring that dependence on oil allocation will not solve our problem with the recent fall in price in global oil market. I think this is the right time for all of us to be involve in other means of generating revenue like agricultural development and other sources of revenue generation for the economic development of the state .”
