LAGOS MAY 23RD (URHOBOTODAY)-Delta State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart, Chief Sunny Onuesoke has appealed to President-Elect, Muhammadu Buhari to talk less and concentrate on how would implement the various electioneering campaign promises he made to Nigerians.
Giving the advise while addressing a group of journalists at Asaba, Delta State, Onuesoke recalled that during Buhari’s campaign for the elective position of Nigerian president , he promised to fight corruption, position the economy, provide jobs, reduce fuel price to N45.00 per liter, pay N5,000 per month for every unemployed youths, generate 48,000 megawatts of electricity within 4 years and stabilize oil price among others.
He said it was Buhari’s lofty promises that made Nigerian electorates to vote for him in the just concluded election, adding that as such Nigerians are expecting a lot from him.
“I am however amazed at the utterances of Alhaji Abubakar Atiku advising Nigerians not to expect miracles from the President-elect. Why should Nigerians not expect miracles from Buhari after all that he promised? Buhari and his APC should immediately put their house in order, gear up for action instead of trying to shift blames or lower expectations,” Onuesoke advised, adding that reneging on his promises at this time is a betrayal of trust Nigerians placed on him.
He pointed out that Nigerians were bewildered when they heard Buhari reneged on his messianic posture and told them in clear terms not to expect him to rapidly fix the problems of nation as he had promised during the campaign.
Onuesoke argued that instead of engaging in shadow-chasing and dwelling on insults and unnecessary display of arrogance, APC leaders should be worried that Nigerians are increasingly becoming apprehensive that their party has already started going back on the promises it made to them.
He maintained that Nigerians would not accept any excuse for failure from the incoming Buhari’s administration especially given that the outgoing administration had laid very strong foundation for rapid economic growth in addition to the successes recorded in the fight against Boko Haram in the North- East.
