LAGOS APRIL 8TH (URHOBOTODAY)-Youths under the aegis of Urhobo National Youth Council (UNYC) have reaffirmed their total support for Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State.
In a meeting held yesterday at Ughelli, Delta State and well attended by representatives of the 24 Urhobo Kingdoms, the UNYC under the leadership of Comrade Monday Oyeghe, said Olorogun O’tega Emerhor is the best and most qualified among the governorship candidates to govern Delta State.
Oyeghe , the National President of the group, called on all Urhobo Youths to give their total support to Olorogun O’tega Emerhor as the administration of the State under APC will focus on youth empowerment.
The spokesman of the group, Comrade Aghogho Orotomah also affirmed the resolve of the group to work night and day to ensure that Olorogun O’tega Emerhor emerged as Governor of Delta State. He also called all on well meaning Deltans to embrace the change that is ongoing in the country by voting for all APC candidates in the forth coming Governorship and State House of Assembly candidates.

I whole heartedly agree, without reservation, with this write up. Any sensible person can see the truth. Chief Ogboru is good but he is, with utmost respect, a local champion. He has no national political alliance like Emerhor. Same thing with Okowa, he is a local champion. Emerhor is a new bred Urhobo man with a great deal of political and technocratic sophistication and well connected in the APC. I did not know that we can produce such kinds of persons again. I thought we can only produce local characters like Igbuya, Amori, etc. O’Tega for ever for Delta governor. Ogboru, sorry O, but you are old school O! You are now Belgium o! For Okowa, it is more of the same PDP wayo, waste and corruption tied to Uncle Ibori’s cabal. Emerhor is a modern version of the Urhobo man and highly respected nationally and a proven achiever in his field unlike Okowa who is a carrier politician, no work apart from politics for him, so how is he going to revive the dead businesses in Delta. Anybody that wishes Urhobo and Delta well, should vote Emerhor not Ogboru or Okowa, they belong to the past and a bad past at that. Just compare rich delta and poor Edo and you will see the difference.
Please you guys should shutoff the ballyhoo. It is piffling of you people to ask Chief Ogboru to step down for Olorogun Emerhor. Ogboru has be leading the opposition against PDP since 2003 and you people are calling him to step down for who. All INEC new initiatives of using card readers for 2015 election was as a result of Ogboru resilient effort to see that a free and fair election is conducted for Nigerians. His constant visit to the election tribunals, appeal courts and nations apex court to claim the mandates given to him by Deltans was part of what spun the INEC to introduce card readers. Ogboru a fighter, a warrior for twelve good years to step down for Emerhor. Let Emerhor go through what Ogboru went through those bitter years and let people call him step down when things are beginning to take shape for credible election and see what his reaction will be. The foot print of Ogboru is extra large for any living politician in Delta to fill now, not Emerhor. Buhari emergence as the president-elect must not be seen as parameter for Emerhor to be Urhobo endorsed candidate. Those of you calling Ogboru in the social media to stepdown for Emerhor must stop your catcall. No Ogboru NO Urhobo consensus candidates.
Ochuko, na so you talk am? No Ogboru not Urhobo consensus candidates? Is Ogboru bigger than urhobo’s best interest? Is Ogboru lord and master over the fiercely independent Urhobo man? We supported him all these years and he did not win, we have a right to support someone else who is very well connectd to the incoming government so that Urhobo and indeed Delta will be well favored by the new govt. Ogboru has not done anything new, he is still in the small mushroom party that has no national political weight. He is far removed from the in-coming ruling party and he is not therefore well connected nationally in the political sense to give us the benefit and relevance we seek. So, there is not much really he is bringing to the table this time. Why not vote for APC? Abi the poverty for Urhoboland never tire you? You no deh see as we people deh suffer since under Uduaghan with NOTHING for we young people? Hmmn, every obstruction to Urhobo progress for Delta and Nigeria, we jump am pass, in Jesus name O! Wadoo Wadoo, With all humility, I am not saying this to slight you or any person that is rooting for Emerhor. In one of your blog, you said you live in Oyibo land which I believed must be the States. I s it how is being done there in the states. If you live around DC Metropolitans I urge you to visit the US Congress library and get a book on President Abraham Lincolm and you will find out how many times he took a shot at the US presidency before he eventually won it. His doggedness fetched it. Urhobos must be a coquette chasing every ruling party. The Urhobos I grew up to see never displayed the spirit of bravado rather the spirit of bravura and that why the slogan “Ogbaudu” meaning the big heart. My advice is that is not too late to call your people to shift support to Ogboru. Thanks

I am thankful for your response, Danny. My difficulty with Chief Ogboru is that I cannot see any new strategy that he has put in place to forestall the previous defeats he has suffered. Nigerian politics is radically different from the Abraham Lincoln era. Here, winner takes all, so if we are an opposition state, we would suffer disadvantage. You can see for yourself how chief Ogboru suffered repeated losses in the court because the ruling party machinery was deployed to ensure he lost. Refer to the court of Appeal decision on Ogboru’s appeal and you will see what I mean. We are improving but we are not a mature democracy yet. So, it is still winner takes all. In any case, why did Chief Ogboru not join the APC ticket? All the Delta state house of assembly DPP members defected to APC. So, I do not feel very confident chief Ogboru has made the right moves. If I were him, I would press for major concessions from Emerhor if I am to step down for him. There is nothing wrong in doing that. Whether abroad of in Warri, I remain a most concerned deltan.
